Nordic Folk Tunes: Sarasota Musica Viva

March 25th at 6:00 PM
Sarasota Musica Viva presents former members of The United States Military Academy Band celebrating the early beginnings as fifers and drummers were stationed with companies of minutemen on West Point during the Revolutionary War in 1778. Watch history come alive as these former members carry on traditions that accompanied the birth of our nation.

A dramatic, comedic, heroic journey of the author’s eccentric relations. Rich in anecdotal detail, we hear the stories of her cosmetic-hording grandmother, wife-seeking brother, and roller-coaster, thrill-seeker father who escaped Nazi Germany. It’s one family’s story of making sense of tragedy, grief and everyday life.

Concert with a Cause

Two great musicians, Dr. Melvin B. Price of MCR Health Services and Dr. Randall C. Morgan of Sarasota Orthopedic Associates share the same love of music and their commitment to serve and support Manatee and Sarasota Counties under-privileged . Please come out and listen to the smooth sound of vintage rhythm and blues and smooth jazz of Nu Jazz and Soul Sensations; all proceeds will go to two special organizations; MCRHS Foundation and Manatee Performing Arts Conservatory Program.

It’s the Roaring Twenties, and a cast of outrageous characters gather in New York to celebrate the wedding of a wealthy playboy. But things don’t go as planned when the playboy meets a bubbly and feisty bootlegger who melts his heart.

Menopause The Musical

May 22 – June 3rd
Inspired by a hot flash and a bottle of wine, writer Jeanie Linders created Menopause The Musical® as a celebration of women who find themselves at any stage of “The Change.” Set in a department store where four women with seemingly nothing in common but a black lace bra meet by chance at a lingerie sale, the all-female cast makes fun of their woeful hot flashes, forgetfulness, mood swings, wrinkles, night sweats and chocolate binges. A sisterhood is created between these diverse women as they realize that menopause is no longer “The Silent Passage.” It is a stage in every woman’s life that is perfectly normal.

Three friends from a seaside high school – meet for a 25th anniversary graduation luncheon. Their lives have not turned out according to the yearbook predictions.
